Marketing Assistant

The BC Tree Fruits Cooperative (BCTFC) represents over 500 fruit growers throughout the Okanagan, Similkameen, and Creston Valleys. We are an integrated organization that operates multiple facilities to store, pack, and market fresh tree fruits including: apples, pears, cherries, peaches, nectarines, plums, prunes and table grapes. In addition to Tree Fruit, BCTFC is also the parent company of Grower Supply Ltd. and more recently formed BC Tree Fruit Cider Company.

The Marketing Assistant will report to the Marketing Manager when assisting with marketing functions including but not limited to: graphic design projects, social media functions, and marketing campaign implementation. The successful candidate will have advanced skills in graphic design, strong social media experience, and must be able to effectively work independently and in a team setting.

The successful applicant will have the following key accountabilities:
• Develop and design graphic elements for various marketing initiatives while working closely with an outside agency to develop brands
• Monitor and manage all social media platforms and websites for the organization including writing content
• Support marketing initiatives, including advertising, sponsorships, communications, and event management projects
• Assist the Marketing Manager to coordinate with production vendors and suppliers as necessary in the execution of marketing activities
• Develop and distribute promotional and informational material consistent with campaigns and brand
• Conduct market research to help launch new campaigns and evaluate effectiveness of marketing efforts
• Assist with SEO and SEM
• Additional duties as required.

The successful applicant will be qualified by possessing the following key attributes:
• Excellent written/verbal communication skills
• Strong Creativity and graphic design skills
• Versatile and highly interpersonal.
• Must be comfortable with public speaking and dealing with various stakeholders
• Diploma/Degree in Marketing/or in Graphic Design
• 3+ years graphic design experience
• Experience with Adobe programs (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)

Production Line Worker

Production Line Worker Responsibilities?
• Sorting fruit to meet Government and/or Industry Grade Standards
• Filling bags, trays, boxes or totes as well as consumer package and bulk filling
• Operating in a safe and efficient manner by following proper safe work and food safe procedures
• Performing work at each station of the trayline area(s)
• Operate machinery and controls at the various work stations as trained
• Additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Safety Staff

Production Line Worker Qualifications?
• Ability to work in a physically demanding environment including repeated lifting of up to 15 pounds
• Have a good work record and above average attendance record
• Be comfortable working with and around machinery
• Ability to communicate effectively with all employees and supervisors
• Must be able to work all shifts as required

Assistant Cider/Winemaker

The new BC Tree Fruits Cider Company is currently seeking a motivated, organized individual to join our team. Our ideal candidate will have previous supervisory experience as well as have worked within the cidery/winery/brewery industry in cellar and production related rolls.

The BC Tree Fruits Cooperative (BCTFC) is owned by fruit growers throughout the entire Okanagan Valley, employs approximately 500 employees, and operates multiple facilities. Representing over 500 growers, we market fresh tree fruits including, apples, pears, cherries, peaches, nectarines, plums, prunes and grapes.

The successful applicant will have the following key accountabilities:
• Managing juice pressing operation periods
• Be involved hands on! in cellar operations, including fermentation, racking, transfers, blending and filtration
• Liaise with lab technicians and winemaking team
• Supervising and running the canning line during canning periods
• Supervising cidery production staff to reduce downtime and increase output levels
• Troubleshooting mechanical issues and make recommendations to Cidery Manager as needed
• Ensuring fill-rates and output requirements are met
• Responsible for ensuring proper sanitation requirements and quality needs are met and exceeded as well as health and safety protocols are being strictly adhered to
• Effectively communicate and build strong relationships with store supervisors, internal sales and cidery team
• Advocate for cider quality and continuous improvement
• Assist with the development of cidery operations and capital plans/budgets
• Support internal marketing programs
• Participate in industry technical groups
• Manage cidery staff work schedules
• Recruit, train and develop and lead new cidery talent under direction of Cidery Manager

The successful applicant will be qualified by possessing the following key attributes:

• Prior cellar/bottle shop experience with demonstrated supervisor aptitude
• Knowledge of winery or beverage processing equipment, bottling filters, safety equipment, standard processing procedures and safety practices
• Possess mechanical knowledge and have ability to troubleshoot various machines.
• Bachelor of Science (Oenology/Viticulture) with a focus on fermentation science or related field and/or completion of Cellar and/or Winemaking courses, Wine Ambassador course or Sommelier/WSET Certificate will considered an asset
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational, analytical and problem solving abilities
• Demonstrated team player with the ability to work under high pressure situations
• Good understanding of business and accounting/inventory/cost control practices
• Must possess a passion of cider/ wine and the industry
• Results-oriented attitude
• Must be able to work flexible work hours and overtime if needed

Shipping Supervisor

The BC Tree Fruits Cooperative (BCTFC) is owned by fruit growers throughout the entire Okanagan Valley, employs approximately 500 employees, and operates multiple facilities. We are seeking an experienced, motivated individual to join our team as a Shipping Supervisor. The successful applicant will be responsible for the direct supervision and assignment of shipping staff, worker safety, and for ensuring the efficiency of shipped/received product and quality control. The candidate must be available to work day, evening, and weekend shifts with possible overtime hours.

The successful applicant will have the following key accountabilities:
• Monitor Shipping Orders to ensure that all products requested are available based on plant inventory, report oversold inventory to Sales, and to ensure order quantity is correct
• Ensures all final quality checks are completed
• Maintain inventory of all chep pallets and temperature devices and seals; order as necessary and balance invoices
• Assist in approving timesheets, tracking leave of absences, and managing absenteeism
• Participate in formal employee communications such as regular toolbox talks and new company policies
• Confer and correspond with supervisors, peers, or subordinates to rectify problems such as damages, shortages and non-conformance to specifications
• Responsible for employee incident reports and any accident investigations, reporting of near misses and incidents to safety department personnel
• Oversee shipping staff to ensure proper procedures and policies are being followed

The successful applicant will report directly to the Retail Store Manager and be responsible for selling vegetables, local product, and BCTFC fruits grown right in the Okanagan Valley, while providing excellent customer service and exuding passion for the industry.

The successful applicant will have the following key accountabilities:
• Enter sales in register, process transactions and provide proper change
• Organize and maintain sales area, stock and face shelves
• Fill racks and bins, rotating products, recording shrink
• Unload and receive freight
• Adhere to opening and closing responsibilities
• Responsible to complete end of day cash balancing and bank deposits
• Field and respond to inquiries, requests, and complaints in a professional manner
