BC Tree Fruits Cooperative (BCTFC) is owned by over 500+ fruit growers throughout the entire Okanagan Valley, has approximately 500 employees, both union and non-union, and operates multiple packing and storage facilities.

The Southern Operations Manager will be responsible to drive continuous improvement and optimization of all processes. They will oversee all daily operations of the Oliver and Osoyoos Production Facilities, plus satellite Receiving and Storage sites, and ensure policies and procedures are being followed. The successful candidate will have the key skills to develop processes that will maximize stewardship, safety, quality and productivity.

Key accountabilities:
• Organize, direct and coordinate optimum day-to-day operations in fruit production and packing
• Optimize production, assets capacity and flexibility while minimising unnecessary costs and maintaining current quality standards
• Allocate resources effectively and fully utilise assets to produce optimal results
• Implement strategies in alignment with strategic initiatives and provide a clear sense of direction and focus
• Monitor operations and trigger corrective actions
• Build a trusting relationship with workgroup and recruit, manage and develop plant staff
• Collect and analyse data to find places of waste or overtime
• Commit to, and be a key contributor to plant safety initiatives and procedures
• Utilize developed systems and processes that track and optimise productivity and standards, metrics and performance targets to ensure effective return on assets
• Address employees’ issues or grievances and administer collective bargaining agreements
• Stay up to date with latest production management best practices and concepts
• Oversee the operations of all southern facilities in conjunction with Senior Operations staff, Production and Shipping Supervisors. – Keremeos, Osoyoos, Creston, Oliver, Penticton and Summerland.

Representing over 500 growers, we market fresh tree fruits including, apples, pears, cherries, peaches, nectarines, plums, prunes and grapes.

The Forklift Operator is responsible for stacking and moving bins, loading or unloading packed fruit from the racks, loading bins onto or off of equipment, and loading or unloading trucks (bins, supplies). All duties must be performed in a safe manner to ensure compliance with government regulations, industry standards and customer requirements to ensure both food and workers safety. This position is located in Oliver and Osoyoos and is seasonal.

The successful applicant will have the following key accountabilities:
• Follow all pertinent food safe and safe work procedures as required
• To load, unload, stack and move bins and pallets of packed fruit and supplies.
• To load and unload trucks and graders.
• At times, nest bins and perform light bin repair duties.
• Safe and efficient operation of the lift truck at all times.
• Understanding the requirements of the job and maintaining records pertaining to the job.
• Any other duties assigned within the nature of the job.

The successful applicant will be qualified by possessing the following key attributes:
• Have a valid driver’s license in good standing.
• Complete the lift truck training program.

We are currently seeking motivated and dedicated individuals to join our team at our Kelowna plant as both seasonal and permanent full-time Cherry Production Line Workers.

Production Line Worker Responsibilities?
• Sorting fruit to meet Government and/or Industry Grade Standards
• Filling bags, trays, boxes or totes as well as consumer package and bulk filling
• Operating in a safe and efficient manner by following proper safe work procedures
• Adhering to food safe and safe work procedures at all times
• Performing work at each station of the tray line area(s)
• Operate machinery and controls at the various work stations as trained
• Additional duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Safety Staff

Production Line Worker Qualifications?
• Ability to work in a physically demanding environment including repeated lifting of up to 15 pounds
• Have a good work record and above average attendance
• Be comfortable working with and around machinery
• Ability to communicate effectively with all employees and supervisors
• Must be able to work all shifts as required
• Able to obtain steal toed boots

• Allocate product volumes to appropriate customers based on profitability and availability
• Selling both packed and bulk fruit that has limited demand from mainstream corporate customers

• Assist in development of Sales Plan for small volume niche commodities and varieties

The Seasonal Receiver is responsible for receiving of cherries, loading or unloading fruit from the trucks. All duties must be performed in a safe manner to ensure compliance with government regulations, industry standards and customer requirements to ensure both food and workers safety. This position is located at our Creston location and will run from approximately June 13th until the beginning of August during our Cherry Season.

The successful applicant will have the following key accountabilities:
• Prepare fruit and bin receipts for grower lots
• Designate cold storage areas or controlled atmosphere rooms in which fruit is stored and ensure that proper documentation is completed
• Coordinate the movement of fruit to and from the receiving area and warehouse
• Constant control of condition and location of fruit
• Complete hauling slips
• Date entry to the computer on a daily basis (for grower info, stock etc)
• Mapping of storage areas on a continuous daily basis
• Grade checking and pressure testing
• Oversee process shipments
• Operate a forklift as required
• Constant monitoring, mapping and updating of all fruit in bins and local sales inventory

The successful applicant will be qualified by possessing the following key attributes:

The Seasonal Quality Control person is responsible for inspecting, testing and documenting the quality, size and color of orchard run fruit. It is this person’s responsibility to ensure that all Safe Work Procedures and Food Safety policies that apply to his/her job are followed. This position is Seasonal and will run from approximately June 13th until the beginning of August.

The successful applicant will have the following key accountabilities:
• Gather samples into buckets and run into sample sizer
• Inspect fruit samples for grade, size and labelling and enter data in regards to grade, temperature, pressure and label information as required for grade analysis
• Get appropriate sample numbers and using thermometer probe test and record core temperature of fruit as per customer specifications.
• Report any problems to the Warehouse Foreman.
• Using pressure tester get appropriate sample pressure readings and input results into the computer as per customer specifications.
• Determine (and develop, if necessary) specifications, test methodology, process critical points, sampling protocols, sanitation procedures, etc., to ensure a controlled and consistent process.
• Risk analysis, verification and validation activities of Food Safety program, including review and creation of related documents to assure compliance with state and federal regulations.
• Take responsibility for investigating, resolving and reporting on customer complaints due to product quality issues; communicate with customers regarding same.
