Production Supervisor

The BC Tree Fruits Cooperative (BCTFC) is owned by fruit growers throughout the entire Okanagan Valley, employs approximately 500 employees, and operates multiple facilities. Representing over 500 growers, we market fresh tree fruits including, apples, pears, cherries, peaches, nectarines, plums, prunes and grapes.

The Production Supervisor organizes, directs and controls the fruit packing operation at the plant level. The Production Line Supervisor is required to meet or exceed production standards in the most cost efficient and timely manner as well as continuing to maintain the highest quality of our products.

The successful candidate will have the following key accountabilities:
• Supervises daily production of all packing lines
• Monitors inventory levels of packaging supplies
• Intimates knowledge of operational capabilities of plant equipment
• Ensures packing to CFIA and customer specific standards
• Ensure all quality guidelines are adhered to
• Scheduling and crewing, approving timesheets, tracking leave of absences, and managing absenteeism
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
• Visible and engaged in day to day production 100% of the time

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Respectfully able to work with all types of people with different personalities, cultures, and customs

Junior Programmer

BC Tree Fruit Cooperative uses a proprietary programming language to design and program all the business applications in-house to effectively manage all departments within our company. If selected there will be ample training with this language. This proprietary language incorporates the use of JavaScript so this experience will be an asset.

In this position, you can expect to work with senior analysts to determine user requirements for new applications, design new applications and databases, write code, thoroughly test programs to ensure error free use, document programs, create user and technical documents, train users on application use and functionality, support and maintain applications once implemented.

Safety Officer

The BC Tree Fruits Cooperative (BCTFC) is owned by fruit growers throughout the entire Okanagan Valley, employs approximately 500 employees, and operates multiple facilities. Representing over 500 growers, we market fresh tree fruits including, apples, pears, cherries, peaches, nectarines, plums, prunes and grapes.

The safety officer monitors workplace activities to ensure that workers comply with company policies and government safety regulations. They have responsibilities pertaining to policy development, safety inspections, safety training and compliance with the Federal Occupational Safety & Health Administration.

The successful candidate will have the following key accountabilities:
• Monitors workplace activities to ensure that workers comply with company policies and government safety regulations
• Inspects interior and exterior work areas to determine if there are any safety hazards
• Determines what policies are needed and solicits input from managers and workers
• Conducts investigations to determine why an accident occurred, and then writes reports detailing the cause and provides recommendations that can help prevent future accidents
• Identify training needs, develop appropriate training programs and delivers training to employees
• Contributes in promoting occupational health and safety awareness

• Strong leadership skills

Looking for an exciting career opportunity to help develop our new hard cider? The new BC Tree Fruits Cider Company is currently seeking a motivated, organized individual to join our team as a Cidery Production Foreman. Our ideal candidate will have previous supervisory experience as well as have worked within the cidery/winery/brewery industry.

The BC Tree Fruits Cooperative (BCTFC) is owned by fruit growers throughout the entire Okanagan Valley, employs approximately 500 employees, and operates multiple facilities. Representing over 500 growers, we market fresh tree fruits including, apples, pears, cherries, peaches, nectarines, plums, prunes and grapes.

The successful applicant will have the following key accountabilities:
• Managing juice pressing operation periods
• Be involved in cellar operations, including fermentation, racking, transfers, blending and filtration
• Liaise with lab technicians and winemaking team
• Supervising and running the canning line during canning periods
• Supervising cidery production staff to reduce downtime and increase output levels
• Troubleshooting mechanical issues and make recommendations to Cidery Manager as needed
• Ensuring fill-rates and output requirements are met
• Responsible for ensuring proper sanitation requirements and quality needs are met and exceeded as well as health and safety protocols are being strictly adhered to
• Effectively communicate and build strong relationships with store supervisors, internal sales and cidery team

The successful applicant will be qualified by possessing the following key attributes:
• Prior cellar/bottle shop experience with demonstrated supervisor aptitude
• Knowledge of winery or beverage processing equipment, bottling filters, safety equipment, standard processing procedures and safety practices
• Possess strong mechanical knowledge and have ability to troubleshoot various machines-Millwright certificate considered an asset
• Completion of Cellar and Winemaking courses, Wine Ambassador course or Sommelier/WSET Certificate is an asset
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational, analytical and problem solving abilities
• Related training and/or College/University education will be considered an asset
• Demonstrated team player with the ability to work under high pressure situations
• Good understanding of business and accounting/inventory/cost control practices
• Must possess a passion of cider/ wine and the industry
• Results-oriented attitude
• Must be able to work flexible work hours and overtime if needed
• Must be physically able to perform all aspects of the position including ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
