Baked Apples

A classic treat!
Serves 4.

4 medium sweet and firm apples
1/2 cup (125 ml) raisins
1/4 cup (60 ml) water
3/4 -1 cup (175-250 ml) brown sugar
1 teaspoon (5 ml) cinnamon
light or heavy cream

Core apples and pierce all around with fork. Slice bottoms of apples to allow them to sit flat in baking dish. Add 1/4 cup water to dish.

Mix brown sugar and raisins together. Fill cores with enough brown sugar/raisin mixture to fill to top; sprinkle each top with 1/8 teaspoon cinnamon. Bake in 325° F (165° C) oven for 45 minutes to 1 hour or until tender when pierced with fork. Remove apples from baking dish and place in single bowls. Glaze with juices remaining in baking dish.

Pour light or heavy cream over each as desired and serve warm.
