If you use AssetMan as intended, you will be able to:
- Maintain a database of capital assets for tracking purposes. Examples of
capital assets might include computers, office equipment, office furnishings...
any significant asset your company needs to keep tabs on.
- Maintain a database of items that would not be considered capital assets.
These might be spare computer parts, or components of larger units that were
purchased separately and have independent warranty / PO / vendor information.
- Group individual assets together into a configuration assigned to an individual
or to a physical location.
- Find out all sorts of information about any asset or item; when it was
purchased, from what vendor and on which purchase order, warranty expiration
and so on.
- Generate and edit purchase orders.
- Review and edit the status of purchase orders.
- Receive individual PO line items and add them to either the capital asset
or item master databases (or neither if you choose).
- Generate and edit invoices. You may add invoice line items freeform or
you may choose a PO line item to add to your invoice. If you choose the later,
AssetMan will track quantities received and invoiced, a feature you may find
useful.
- Printing of invoices and PO's is handled by the web server, there's no
need to download the document to the client for printing. The form and the
data are generated at print time from a blank form template overlaid with
text, so there's no need to order custom pre-printed forms. Good old 8-1/2
X 11 or A4 will do nicely. PDF and HTML versions of PO's and invoices are
provided for those who can't or don't want to make use of the advanced printing
capabilities of AssetMan.
- Search for assets, items, PO's and invoices with lots of search parameters.
- Version 2.4a adds the capability
to configure AssetMan for a local date format. Up 'til now, dates were
displayed and had to be entered in ISO format (YYYY-MM-DD). You can now
configure Assetman for USA (MM/DD/YYYY) or International (DD/MM/YYYY) date
formats. Dates are still stored in the database in ISO format so no changes
to your database are needed. You may also configure AssetMan to relax the
telephone number format checking a bit so you can more easily enter non-North
American style numbers. The forms overlay printing code has been streamlined
for faster printing particularly on Postscript printers and the binary
utilities have been updated which has improved print quality a bit. As
a matter of course, the ADODB library for PHP was updated to the most recent
version.
- NEW! Version 2.5b adds the ability
to configure the length of asset tags as well as PO and invoice numbers.
Some general useablility issues were addressed and the forms overlay functionality
was improved with better, more consitent blank form templates. Version
2.5b also fixes a directory traversal bug in the download PDF code. If
exploited, the bug could allow for the exposure of sensitive system information.
I have also attempted to address some other fairly minor security concerns
by improving the validation of input data. As a matter of course, the ADODB
library for PHP was updated to the most recent version.
That's the summary of AssetMan's capabilities. Interested maybe? Head on over
